FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

"Benefits of Purposeful Play: Children celebrate Christmas in Singapore on wheels!"

Meeting Santa Claus, build a Gingerbread House, design your own Snow Globes, Santa's Picnic and Christmas Treasure Hunt, these are some of the exciting activities happening at Skate With Us Christmas Skate Camp in Singapore.

Skate With Us organises a special theme skate camp at both West Coast Park and East Coast Park this December School Holidays with a Christmas theme. From now till 10 January 2013. Children can take the opportunity of the Winter Break and December School Holidays to go on an awesome Christmas adventure on wheels! The Christmas Skate Camp promotes the benefits of purposeful play and the benefits of Outdoor Play, giving children the opportunity to thrive in the freedom of outdoors and discover the world around them.

Skate With Us has developed "Fun on Wheels" Skate Camp for children from age 3 to 12 year old based on the principles of dynamic learning, life skills and purposeful play. The camp caters to beginners, intermediate and advanced skaters with the objective of equipping the children with new skating skills like freestyle skating, inline hockey and urban skating techniques that will help them overcome park terrains.

The key highlights of the camp are getting the children to go back to nature and be involved in Christmas related crafts and hands on activities. With an increased trend where children are spending more time in front of the television than they do playing and exploring the outdoors, this Christmas Skate Camp is an excellent opportunity to get them off the computer screens and let them enjoy the outdoor environment, build their social and practical confidence level.

Ms Wong, mother of two campers, Ethan and Toby said, "I signed my children up for this camp because it's good for the kids to be out during the holidays instead of being cooped up at home. Plus Toby and Ethan improved a lot in skating in just these four days!" Ms Wong is also considering continuing both her boys in regular weekend skating lessons so as to continue giving her children a regular fitness routine.

Mr Daniel Teh, Sports Director and Sports Curriculum Developer at Skate With Us said, "The objective of the camp is to provide an opportunity for the children to engage in active learning and purposeful play. We want children to become more active and help them gain key life skills like confidence through skating and other fun activities." He added, "Our emphasis is on active learning where children develop confidence and motivational skills from self play behaviours. Our lessons are customised to suit the varied learning needs of children. For example, children below 7, their motor skills are not as developed and thus they will need to work on controlling movements and coordination, sense of balance, so we have developed specific skills set that will help them achieve their level best."

Besides Christmas theme skate camps, Skate With Us also hold other special theme camps like Superheroes Summer Camp, Pirates Adventure Camp during other school holidays like March holidays and June holidays. To find out more about their programmes, please visit www.skate-with-us.com
