All you need to know about JSA

Hey parents, what exactly is JSA? If you have children in Primary 4, you would have received a letter from your school asking you to nominate your child for JSA.

What is JSA then?

Let us break down the Junior Sports Academy (JSA) programme for you!

Basically, it is like GEP for Sports. Children in Primary 4 will be invited to a selection trial (usually during March School Holidays). This year, the JSA selection trial will be held at Kallang on 14 March 2026 Saturday.

JSA is an initiative to nurture primary school kids who show a higher ability in sports, giving these primary school kids with a real knack for sports some extra opportunities to shine.

It’s designed for students who show higher abilities in PE. They’ll get to try out different sports from Primary 4 to Primary 6, figure out what they’re naturally good at, and discover which ones they love most.

What will be tested?

The test items for the selection trial are based on generic motor ability, such as sprinting, jumping, balancing and hand-eye coordination and do not require students to have specific sports skills.

One of the burning questions that parents tend to ask is, should I send my kid for this trial? Must I accept if chosen?

Students who are selected after the trial will have the choice to accept or reject the offer. It is not compulsory and the purpose of the trial is simply to identify if your child has a higher ability in sports. No pressure to accept. Students who accept will be given exposure to sports

Once they have that experience under their belt, they’ll be in a much better spot to pick a sport they want to stick with—and get more focused help from sports groups starting in secondary school.

Similar to JSA, At Skate With Us, our philosophy is Learning Through Sports. Through the Singapore Sports Education Programme by Singapore Sports Council, we have been on an outreach programme to inculcate character development through the joy of skatesports.

Our Born to Skate Programme is an inline skating / rollerblading programme conducted at Singapore Sports Hub Kallang every Saturday provides a fun and stress-free way for children to grow holistically and get fit. We believe that sports will build character and our programme is tailored for children as young as 3 to 12 years old.
